Fan Football Scout is a site where football fans rate players one ability at a time. Instead of giving a player a single overall number, you score the parts of their game you have actually watched, such as finishing, passing, tackling or pace. Those ratings let you put players side by side, see where fans agree and argue about where they don’t.
Each ability is rated on its own, in Fan mode (0 to 100) or Scout mode (0 to 20). The score shown for an ability is a trimmed mean: once it has at least 10 ratings, the top and bottom 10% are dropped before averaging, which limits how far a few extreme scores can pull it (below 10, every rating counts). Scores are settled in daily batches, and a player’s overall score is the plain average of their abilities.
Many players start out with a rough starting estimate. In Scout mode, a script works it out from public career numbers; in Fan mode, it is that Scout score converted to the 0 to 100 scale. In either mode it counts as just one rating. It is not a verdict. It is there to give fans something to push against, and the score moves as fan ratings come in.
That is the point of the site: the method is out in the open, and every score is a running argument rather than a final answer. If you think a number is wrong, rate the player yourself. Rating is free and you don’t need an account; sign in if you also want to explain why in the comments on their page.
